Industrial HiVision ActiveX Control

Ethernet networks, even Industrial Ethernet networks, have traditionally been supervised using Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP), an IETF standard. Using SNMP, a wealth of information and network diagnostics is available from the network infrastructure devices, and even the end devices. Network management software such as Industrial HiVision can collect this information and display it in a graphical format.

Industrial processes are supervised using Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA) software. These programs rely on ActiveX controls to provide the operator with real-time graphical displays about the status of the automation system components.

Unfortunately, in almost all cases, these two methods are not compatible.

Wouldn't it be great if you could take the graphical network information displays provided by Industrial HiVision, and drop them straight into your SCADA system, with no additional effort?

Well, you can.

Industrial HiVision provides an ActiveX Control client. The ActiveX Control provides all the supervision and event acknowledgements functionality of the standard client. Just register the control on your system, and provide it with the IP address of the Industrial HiVision server. No other software is required.

User benefits:

  • No duplication of effort.
  • Existing HiVision maps can be embedded directly into SCADA.
  • No development time.
  • ActiveX offers full client functionality.
  • No need to load additional applications on the SCADA system.
